What Is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of selective focused attention. We all go through a light state of hypnosis multiple times a day. This state occurs in every person five seconds before entering the sleep state and waking up. It is also close to the same state of mind as when we are daydreaming.
In hypnosis, we extend this brief interlude so that we can work in its perimeter (the subconscious). During this state of mind, a door opens between two areas of our brain, the neocortex and the limbic brain. The neocortex is basically where we reason and make decisions. The Limbic brain is where we store emotional memories. All through our life, events and emotions create imprints in our brain. A pattern that makes it hard for the logical part of our brain get rid of. This pattern is like a short cut activated every time we face a similar situation.
Hypnotherapy is one of the fastest growing therapies in Canada
During sessions the hypnotherapist utilize evidence-based techniques in order to bypass the conscious mind and existing beliefs, to inhibit healing and change going right to the source of all your beliefs and behaviours, the subconscious mind.
Practical Applications
Take for example, if someone has a traumatic incident during a flight, your brain will harbor a set of these pathways that associate that flight experience with every flight experience, making you fear it.
Hypnosis activates the limbic brain, where we store and process emotional memory, often uncovering long forgotten memories. This activation gives the possibility to the conscious part of our present brain to temporarily override previously entrance patterns, allowing you to emerge with a new perspective on past experiences and deeply rooted patterns of behaviours.
Flight experiences for example, will no longer be scary once these new connections are created and memories re-evaluated. With result driven hypnosis, you are guided to the limbic brain where you can target any problems that hold you back from enjoying your life to the fullest.

Clinical Hypnotherapy
Is a form of neuro-psychotherapy with roots in existing evidence-based therapies. A Clinical Hypnotherapist is a mental health professional with extensive training and expertise in the clinical application of hypnosis in therapy.
Trauma and Resilience
Resilience is being able to bounce back after setbacks and continue striving in the face of hardship. If we manage to trigger a process of resilience it will give you the ability to face life’s adversities, transforming your deepest wounds and fears into a driving force to overcome and emerge strengthened.
But if you put the process back in place as before, then you run the risk of maintaining resentment. Without resilience, inner conflicts and distress will repeat itself.
Resilience Allows You To:
- Set healthy boundaries
- Be emotionally independent
- Have healthier long term relationships
- Develop strong self esteem and confidence
- Stop intergenerational trauma
- Be authentic with self and others
- Lower the risk of developing PTSD
- Avoid repetitive patterns
- And more
How Hypnotherapy Can Help You
It is important to keep in mind that, even if we observe that hypnosis can have a strong impact on the return to health of patients, this practice does not cure. It is not a substitute for proper medical care. However it can be very effective with the following:
Trauma
PTSD
Depression
Anxiety
Relationships
Gender Dysphoria
Addiction
Phobias
Weight Loss
Smoking Cessation
Self Esteem & Confidence
Relations With Others
Pain

Frequently Asked Questions
Every hypnosis is self-hypnosis. If you want to be hypnotized, you will be. I make sure to guide my clients depending on my client’s personality and his/her reaction during the session. Some people are able to go into trance more rapidly and more deeply than others. For most therapeutic goals, light trance is enough to benefit from hypnotherapy.
The first session is mainly to get to know each other as well as the setting of personalized objectives. A first hypnosis session is also introduced during this first session.
“Homework”: I will teach you some self hypnosis exercises and use some Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) that you can apply in between sessions in order to reinforce your neurological changes that take place during your hypnotherapy sessions.
The first one lasts about 1h30. The following sessions last 60 minutes.
I offer sessions ranging from 1 to 8 sessions. I set up a sequential treatment plan in order to achieve permanent changes. The single sessions are mainly follow up “touch ups” or situational stress relief.
It actually depends on the individual and the reason they want the therapy. For some, two sessions are enough to help them make the desired changes. For others who have multiple areas and facets of their lives may require multiple sessions to see significant improvement. To achieve significant and lasting results the average is between 4 and 6.
Our subconscious mind makes up most of our brain.
Our subconscious mind is often called our conditioned mind.
It is, however, completely objective because it contains all of our past memories, allowing us to operate on autopilot every day without having to relearn how to tie our shoes every day.
Because the subconscious mind remains totally objective, it allows us to use hypnosis very effectively to change ingrained habits and get to the root of a problem.
According to Dr. Bruce Lipton, a developmental biologist, everything we see, hear, feel, smell and taste is constantly being recorded. It taps us 24/7.
Key aspects to creating rapid and effective change:
Our subconscious mind is not judgmental. It does not know the difference between pretend and reality, truth or fiction. Its role is to simply accept whatever it is given.
The word “hypnos” means sleep in Greek. Contrary to what one might think, the hypnotized person does not sleep, rather, it is an awakening of the subconscious. This state occurs in any person five seconds before entering the sleep state and waking up. In hypnosis, we extend this brief interlude in order to work within its perimeter (the subconscious).
The client will always be in control while hypnotized. It is an awakening of the subconscious and allows clients to be more focused. The client will actually achieve more control of their personal comfort, health, and well-being.
Absolutely! A client has always control and can chose to “come out” of trance within a short time. A hypnotherapist has no control over the person. Also, the client can choose to ignore suggestions.

“After my hypnosis sessions I saw a significant improvement in my mood and the symptoms of PMDD completely disappeared after a few months and one additional session. I no longer take anti- depressants. I also feel more motivated and goal-driven in my daily life”

“After my hypnosis sessions I am full of motivation, way more confident. I lost already 4 kilograms after the second session so I’m really happy about that. I’m less nervous on what I am doing everyday and way more positive. I finally accept the fact that I am not perfect but there is nothing wrong with that”

“Following the hypnosis sessions I am more relaxed and at peace with myself, I appreciate the image that I send back because I appreciate myself more and I appreciate the time spent alone. I build a world for myself in which I only let in the people who bring me something positive”

“A feeling of fullness came over me and I wasn’t angry anymore. I had so much anger in me that I felt washed away from all these problems that were not my own. I had found myself, a positive young man who loves life and people. Thanks to this session, I made sure not to invest myself so much in conflicts with certain people. I found my smile and my good mood. I think I was really tired of investing myself so much for people who are causing me harm and I had forgotten myself in all this. Thank you again for this revelation!”
